An institution that began life as a college in 1967, before becoming a university in 1990 (thanks to sponsorship from Monash University), UC offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses across five faculties: Education, Health, Art and Design, Science and Technology, and Business, Government and Law. Beyond a strong commitment to research, as evidenced by the 15 different research centres it runs, UC is probably most famous for an extracurricular activity. An event that initially celebrated the laying of the university’s first stone, Stonefest has turned into a multi-day music festival, and is held between the end of study and the start of exams every year.
