A skilled hand and cultivated mind. The motto of the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, or RMIT to its friends, could not be more apt. Established as Working Men’s College in 1887, in response to Australia’s industrial revolution, it took its current form in 1992 and hasn’t looked back. Now enrolling 95,000 students, it is one of the largest and wealthiest universities in Australia. The main campus is in the Melbourne CBD, with others found throughout the state and the world. Technology aside, RMIT was recently ranked the top art and design school in Australia and Oceania.
