In 1921, Edith Cowan became Australia’s first female parliamentarian. 70 years later she became the first – and to date only – Australian woman with a university named after her. ECU offers more than 300 courses across three WA campuses, two in Perth (Mount Lawley and Joondalup) and one in Bunbury, as well as online and offshore study. The arts are big here, with the WA Screen Academy, one of Australia’s leading film schools, and WAAPA, the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, both found on campus. Notable alumni unsurprisingly include some of Australia’s most famous performers, including Hugh Jackman and Tim Minchin.
