Founded in 1974 as Victoria’s fourth university, and the first with representation in the regional areas of the state, Deakin has grown into a large and quite esteemed institution. Named after the second prime minister of Australia, Alfred Deakin, its main campus can be found in the Melbourne suburb of Burwood, while Geelong and Warrnambool are home to regional campuses, and Dandenong, Craigieburn and Werribee have learning centres. Deakin University boasts consistently high student satisfaction ratings, topping the charts for undergraduate satisfaction in Victoria every year since 2010. On top of a focus on law and business, Deakin is one of Australia’s fastest-growing research universities.
