Beginning as the Queensland Institute of Technology (Capricornia) in 1967, four decades and four name changes later CQUniversity was officially established, a name that recognised the fact that this institution had stretched far beyond its original Central Queensland borders. While its main campus remains in Rockhampton, CQ now has a presence across 15 campuses and seven other delivery sites in every mainland state. 35,000 students are involved in any and every area of study, including science and technology, health and medicine, business, law, education and the arts. CQUniversity alumni include WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange and cycling legend Anna Meares.
