At the QAS we support + pre-elite and elite athletes from talented juniors through to Olympic, Paralympic and World Championships medallists to win on the world stage. We support both in-house squad programmes, partnership Programmes with National Sporting Organisations and/or scholarships for individuals who are on medal winning trajectories for international success. We have a new and bold High Performance Strategy to propel us forward to enable more medal winning moments by Queensland Athletes, to ultimately inspire the State and the Nation ahead amongst the backdrop of a home Games in Brisbane .

Reporting to the Senior Biomechanist, some of the Movement Scientist responsibilities are as below:

Provide world-leading evidence-based Movement Science servicing (predominantly biomechanics, integrated with skill acquisition and performance analysis) and advice for the Athletics, BMX Freestyle and other sport program coaches and categorised athletes, in line with each athlete’s individual Athlete Plan, which is aligned with the sport program’s What IT Takes To Win (WITTW) framework.

Work collaboratively with the QAS Senior Biomechanist to ensure servicing is targeted and effective.

Work collaboratively with the sport programs to ensure appropriate movement science technology is available and applicable in the training and competition environment.

Deliver specific and relevant performance testing and tracking/monitoring for categorised athletes and provide timely feedback to the Coaches, Athletes and Performance Support Team members.

Contribute to the development of Athlete Plans and regularly review the associated specific development priorities and performance metrics to measure progress.

Work collaboratively as part of a high performing team, establishing and maintaining effective partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders to identify and deliver high quality integrated outcomes.

Work closely with the relevant National Discipline leads to ensure world class movement science support is being delivered in the QAS programs.

Undertake domestic and international travel as required to support athlete preparation and performance at training camps and competitions.

Collect, store and share athlete data and vision in the Athlete Management System (AMS) and other approved platforms in line with QAS and the Sport program expectations
