Work to continuously improve the Navy’s personnel environment and operational functions to best meet the needs of its people.
Whether you have recently finished school, currently studying, already in the workforce or you have no experience at all, you’ll be paid from day one. You’ll gain all the skills needed with extensive on-the-job training.
As a Human Resource Manager (known in the Navy as Maritime Human Resource Officer), you’ll be responsible for improving the workforce and environment for Navy personnel. This role will see you performing a range of human resource functions involving welfare, policies, retention, development, recruitment, training, support, deployment and operations.
On a strategic level, there will be opportunities to contribute to workforce development, design and implementation, in order to develop and retain a highly skilled workforce.
While a large part of your career will be based ashore at a Navy or Defence base, you will also be required to provide your expertise onboard ships deployed on operations.

As an officer, you’ll learn additional skills and duties to become highly trained and efficient in supporting the security and safety of the ship and personnel onboard. This involves providing leadership, management, administration and career advice to sailors and junior officers within your division.
