>Perth WA, Brisbane QLD, Canberra ACT, Melbourne VICRole overviewTransport Safety Investigators (TSIs) work within multi-disciplined and multi-modal teams. Transport Safety Investigators require: strong analytical skills, effective written and verbal communication skills, can harness information to deliver on intended results, and can facilitate internal/external cooperation and effective partnerships. Investigators work in accordance with the Transport Safety Investigation Act 2003, its subordinate legislation, and ATSB policies and procedures. The key duties of the position include:TSIs must be able to demonstrate:• comprehensive analytical and technical writing skills, to produce preliminary, interim and final transport safety investigation reports• project management skills capable of achieving a defined outcome, with agreed resources and within a prescribed time period• management/leadership skills capable of leading small teams of technical specialists/investigative team member to achieve outcomes• an ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with other technical specialist, recognising/respecting the work preferences and different views of others• an ability to apply industry knowledge and experience impartially (and without bias) • an understanding of, or an ability to acquire and apply a knowledge of, relevant legislation and supporting regulations• excellent communication and stakeholder management skills capable of professionally representing the ATSB’s interests with a range of government and private sector organisations and the general public• an ability to manage and support the health, safety and wellbeing of self and others in accordance with legislation and the agency’s policies and procedures• an ongoing commitment to learning, self-development and the maintenance of industry awareness• an ability to model and promote the Australian Public Service (APS) values, APS Code of Conduct and ATSB principles/values. EligibilityFor this particular vacancy, the ATSB is looking for candidates that can bring to bear their established operational experience within the marine industry (minimum 5 years) in terms of fulfilling the role description and have a specific interest in improving safety.It is a general expectation that employees of the Australian Public Service (APS) are Australian citizens or are intending to apply for Australian Citizenship.You will have no impediments towards obtaining a Baseline security clearance.You will need to undergo a number of pre-employment checks. which may include a police records check and a health clearance.
