Youth Programs Volunteer at the Y Volunteers have been the backbone of the YMCA since we opened our doors over 160 years ago. Today, hundreds of volunteers donate their time and talents to help support our mission; connecting people to their communities to live healthier, happier lives. It is important to us that our volunteers have rewarding experiences in their work, with access to training, development and connection to their community – not to mention the fantastic feeling that comes with making a difference in the lives of others. Volunteering is a unique opportunity to contribute to your community in a variety of youth programs in a way that is meaningful to both yourself and to the wider community. Whatever your reason for volunteering, we aspire to have all of our Youth Program volunteers benefit from their experience as much as our communities and young people benefit from their service. Youth Programs Volunteer: Proudly supported by the City of Parramatta, the Y Space Parramatta Westfield Pop-Up is a place for young people to connect, learn new skills, chill out and have fun. This space was shaped by the voices of young people, meeting a range of needs and interests. We offer creative and skill-building workshops, wellbeing sessions and more. As a Youth Programs Volunteer you will interact with the young people that come to the space. You will also assist the Y Team Members in supervision and upkeep of the space. To be a Youth Programs volunteer you will need: Interest in empowering and supporting young people Complete a Working with Children Check. As a volunteer, your Working with Children check will be free of cost Complete a National police check (International if required) – Paid for by the Y! Ability and willingness to comply with YMCA NSW Child Protection Policies & Procedures Availability to volunter various times betwee 2:00PM – 6:00PM Monday – Friday, and 10:00AM – 5:00PM Saturday. Youth and Community Service Our Youth and Community Service workers empower and inspire our young visitors, providing them with a safe space to grow, learn and have their voice heard. From our Program Coordinators and Youth Workers, to all our wonderful Volunteers – our team work tirelessly to create meaningful opportunities for underprivileged and disadvantaged youth. As part of The Y family, you’ll be responsible for the care and safety of our young community and impact their physical, mental and social wellbeing for the better. We operate 22 recreation centres, 63 out-of-school-hours care services, and two camping locations which employ 1,800 staff across NSW – and fund our diverse range of enriching community programs. The Y requires that all applicants undergo satisfactory screening prior to commencement, including but not limited to: a national criminal history check; an international criminal history check where applicants have worked overseas; holding or obtaining a Working with Children Clearance/equivalent in accordance with state/ territory laws; two reference checks. Please note, the results of any National and International Police Check will only be used to assess your suitability to perform the role. Any successfully appointed applicant will be required to adhere to the Safeguarding Children and Young People framework, which includes a thorough safeguarding children and young people induction and committing to upholding the safety and wellbeing of children and young people throughout their engagement with YMCA.
