The details: Promote Greater Brisbane as the destination of choice for Business EventsTourism, Business and Major Events DepartmentFull time role, competitive salary on offer About Brisbane EDABrisbane Economic Development Agency (Brisbane EDA) – a wholly owned subsidiary of Brisbane City Council – plays a vital role in growing Brisbane’s economy, driving demand for Brisbane, and creating growth and trade opportunities for local Brisbane businesses. In the current climate, we are taking a lead role in driving Brisbane’s economic recovery, working with city leaders, partners and local businesses to deliver initiatives with immediate and sustainable economic impact for Brisbane.About the RoleReporting to the Senior Manager, Business Events, this role is responsible for identifying and developing highly qualified business event leads in key industry sectors and progressing these into successful bidding opportunities. The role shares the responsibility of achieving end-to-end business development goals from researching and developing business event opportunities, through to bidding on these opportunities to secure them for the Brisbane region.Key Responsibilities include; Develop and oversee the delivery of a business development strategy for allocated industry sectors as part of the overall business plan;Develop relationships with leaders and local experts in allocated industry sectors, who can assist with identifying opportunities and hosting business events in Brisbane;Provide end-to-end account management to clients to develop and maintain strong relationships and consideration of Brisbane for business event opportunities;Develop qualified conference and incentive leads through research of industry sectors and qualifying leads with high propensity to convert into bidding opportunities;Participate in and leverage attendance at industry events and national and international trade shows to develop and progress account management and business opportunities;Host client site inspections and famils to promote the services of Brisbane EDA and enhance bidding opportunities;Project manage the bidding process for allocated opportunities, including coordination of bid strategies, chairing and administration of committee meetings, producing tailored bid documents and presentations;Work in close collaboration with Brisbane EDA members and key stakeholders to maximise business development opportunities; andMaintain product knowledge of the destination including venues, services, attractions, industry strengths, city developments and collaboration opportunities. What you’ll Bring At least 5 years’ experience in events and business development, gained in a hospitality or a corporate context;Demonstrated ability to prospect, research and analyse leads, proactively establish and maintain relationships and convert to sales;Proven success in business development and sales;Experience in bidding and the tender process;Knowledge of the Business Events industry and understanding of sectors within the MICE industry;High level of communication and presentation skills (verbal and written);Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, coordinate and manage multiple tasks in a high paced environment;Strong commitment to providing service excellence; andAbility to work effectively in a team.
