Junior Process Development Engineer

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with relevant experience to join a dynamic and expanding research and development team at Laminex Cheltenham. Reporting to the Product Development Engineer, you will be primarily responsible for undertaking pilot scale production and testing of new and existing Laminex products to support new product and process opportunities to inform technical decisions.

This is a hands-on role that will see you operating equipment under the guidance of a research engineer and thus requires a high attention of detail and diligence to following verbal and written instructions. You will also assist in continuous improvement through participation in processes such as 5S, risk assessments, SOPs, chemical handling, and regular safety inspections. What GREAT Looks Like

• Prepare raw materials and plant equipment according to relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

• Operation of plant equipment with a high attention to detail as per trial plans.

• Ensure quality by testing sampled products to industry standard tests.

• Maintain equipment in good working condition and participate in calibration, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance activities.

• Adhere to Fletcher Building’s Zero Harm policies and report all accidents, near misses, and unsafe work practices/hazards to the supervising Research Engineer/Research Manager

• Assist with continuous improvement initiatives, as required.

• Collaborate with other team members in a productive manner.

• Takes initiative to grow and develop skills and knowledge in the flow of everyday work

Position is being offered as a Casual role with regular hours, however, suitable candidates will be considered for full time employment following 12 months.

Work hours between 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday with the candidate expected to work a minimum of three shifts a week, although five shifts (employed for 38 hours) is preferred. Salary band is between 35-40 AUD p/hour with possibility for overtime depending on work flow.
