Position Overview:
As a Disability Support Worker at CareLabs, you will provide compassionate and professional care to individuals with disabilities. You will assist clients with daily living activities, skill development, and community engagement while promoting dignity and respect.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Care and Support
1. Assist clients with personal care, including hygiene, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
2. Support with meal preparation, feeding, and medication administration.
3. Facilitate transportation to appointments, social events, or community activities.
- Skill Development and Independence
1. Encourage clients to develop life skills, such as cooking, budgeting, and household tasks.
2. Implement individual support plans tailored to client goals.
- Social and Community Engagement
1. Facilitate participation in recreational, educational, and cultural activities.
2. Advocate for clients to ensure inclusion and equal opportunities.
- Documentation and Communication
1. Maintain accurate and timely records of client progress and activities.
2. Communicate effectively with clients, families, and other stakeholders.
3. Report any incidents, concerns, or changes in client needs to supervisors.
- Compliance and Safety
1. Follow CareLabs’ policies, procedures, and relevant legislative requirements.
2. Ensure the safety and well-being of clients and colleagues.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Fluent in Australian English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Working Visa, Permanent Resident, or Australian Citizen.
- Full, valid Australian Driver’s License and access to a reliable, insured vehicle.
- Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check).
- Current National Police Clearance.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Current First Aid and CPR certifications.
- Certificate III or IV in Disability Support, Community Services, or a related field.
Desirable Skills and Attributes:
- Experience in providing support to individuals with disabilities, including complex care needs.
- Knowledge of the NDIS framework and person-centered care principles.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
