As a Microbiologist, based in Notting Hill, Melbourne, your main responsibilities will be to perform routine and non-routine testing, to manage and grow the Microbiological Section of the laboratory and to ensure tests are carried out according to NATA and / or client specifications. You are also to act as a specialist in Microbiology for responding to client technical queries and laboratory trouble shooting.
Your key responsibilities in this role will include but are not limited to:
- Undertake routine and non-routine microbiological testing
- Act as a NATA signatory
- Provide technical leadership and identify opportunities for obtaining optimum efficiency and productivity.
- Ensure results are delivered on time within agreed KPI’s to the client.
- Monitor and report on the progress of work performed.
- To assist with further developing microbiological testing for the business.
- Devise and perform developmental and validation work with new analytical methods and instrumentation to a level required to achieve NATA accreditation.
- Understand and promote SGS’ quality management system and ensure the laboratory QA/QC criteria and NATA accreditation requirements are continuously being met.
- Assist management in promoting a safe working environment.
- To assist in training and further developing staff in relation to microbiological services.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Laboratory Manager.
Qualifications
To be considered for this role your skills and attributes should include:
- Bachelor and postgraduate diploma of microbiology, or equivalent industry experience.
- Demonstrable commercial laboratory experience in environmental microbiology.
- Previous NATA signatory or delegated NATA signatory status
