Senior Frontend Developer

An exciting permanent opportunity has become available for a Senior Front End Developer

As part of the Technology Team, you will utilise your web Frontend Developer skills to take responsibility for the delivery of high-quality, customer-facing visual and interactive elements which will be used in Bupa Digital systems to drive strategic outcomes for Bupa’s customers. The role will include requirement analysis, assistance with solution design, code development, unit testing and implementation of highly maintainable and scalable solutions. You will work within cross-functional Agile teams to deliver high quality applications using: .Net, JavaScript, HTML, CSS and Azure cloud platforms utilising industry standard software development best practices. The role will also mentor graduate and other level developers.

How will I help?

• Will develop functional and appealing web applications bsed on usability and build reusable code and libraries for future use.
• Will ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs and optimise applications for maximum speed and scalability.
•  Will be responsible for website maintenance and enhancements.
•  Will assist back-end developers in coding and troubleshooting.
•  Planning and Organising / Work Management – Establishing a course of action for self to accomplish specific goals.
•  Initiative – Making active attempts to influence events to achieve goals; self-starting rather than accepting passively; taking action to achieve goals beyond what is required; being proactive. Quality Orientation – Accomplishing tasks through concern for areas involved, no matter how small; showing concern for all aspects of the job; accurately checking processes and tasks Communication – Effective use of communication channels in interactions with customers, vendors, management and team. Manage management and stakeholder expectations including through formal and informal reporting
•  Proactively support the uplift of project delivery practices and participate in and contribute to Communities of Practice within Bupa
• Guide and mentor graduate and associate level developers on best practice
• Other responsibilities as directed by the Project Manager or Reporting Manager You may also carry out any other duties reasonably requested by Bupa from time to time.

What do I need?

Qualifications and training
Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology – Computer Science / Software Engineering or equivalent 

Experience

•  5-7+ years’ experience using JS frameworks
•  A proficient understanding of web mark-up including HTML5, CSS3.
•  A proficient understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks including jQuery. Experience with React JS
•  A basic understanding of CSS pre-processing platforms and CSS in JS libraries such as Sass, styled components and emotion
•  A good understanding of advanced JavaScript libraries and frameworks such as Angular, React, Knockout JS, Backbone, etc.
•  A good understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates and AJAX. Knowledge or experience with bundling tools such NPM, webpack and Gulp
• Basic knowledge with tools such as Photoshop or Gimp is advantageous.
•  Experience with Content Management Systems.
• Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them. Proficient understanding of code versioning tools like Git.
•  Good understanding of SEO principles and ensuring applications will adhere to them.
• Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work Skills and attributes Willingness to go the “extra mile” to achieve the business outcome
•  Excellent written and verbal skills are mandatory
•  Excellent team player
•  Demonstrable initiative Understanding of the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
•  Knowledge of the health insurance business (desirable)
•  Knowledge of Azure Dev Ops (mandatory) and Confluence (desirable)
•  Willingness to work collaboratively with Back End developers
