Talent International are currently seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join a large utilities company. This role is based in Fortitude Valley on a 12-month contract.

// 3 days office and 2 WFH – No remote option is available

About the role:
The role of the systems engineer is responsible for the management of our client’s computer systems and deployment of security and systems Infrastructure. This includes the planning, development, installation, configuration, maintenance, support, and optimisation of all systems. This important contract role has a key focus on uplifting features in the Office 365 Security Suite as well as some other on-premise systems as part of our cyber security uplift program. The system engineer works with the program manager for cyber security and infrastructure teams to provide secure and reliable ICT infrastructure to the company.

Key Accountabilities include:

• Delivery of infrastructure solutions in support of the client/server environments and SaaS platforms in use
• Improving the company’s essential 8 maturity levels through targeted risk reduction enhancements to our standard operating environments in partnership with other operational and security leaders
• Planning and delivery future capacity and performance requirements based on business needs
• Liaise with service providers to investigate and resolve issues with supported infrastructure and applications
• Assist in creating and maintaining a knowledgebase of documentation such as as-builts for supported systems
• Create a positive customer support experience by ensuring the timely resolution or escalation of issues, communicating promptly on progress and handling customers with a professional attitude
• Proactively monitoring the performance of services against SLAs, recommending performance improvements and preparation of performance reports;
• Consulting with staff, managers, and executives about the best security practices and providing technical advice.
• Effectively demonstrate teamwork, problem solving, initiative and integrity;

Technical Skills

• Expert experience support Windows Server including DNS, AD, Group Policy, Print Management, File Services, DHCP, RDS etc.
• Strong experience with Office 365 Security features like Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps, Azure Identity Protection, Privileged Cloud Access Management, Microsoft Defender for Identity, Insider Risk Management, Information Governance.
• Exposure to cyber security frameworks like ISO27001/02 and Essential 8 and implementation of technical controls related to these.
• General Office 365 Administration
• VMware Hypervisor experience
• Understanding of Azure and cloud concepts
• Powershell Scripting and automation experience

Experience / Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology is desirable.
• ITIL v3/v4 Foundation certification
• At least 4 years experience as a systems administrator or engineer
• Industry certifications are highly regarded such as Microsoft Certified (Associate level in 365, MCSA etc), VCP, NCP.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills including documenting technical processes
• Influencing and relationship management skills across all levels
