The Role:

RCH Laboratory Services is seeking applications from suitably qualified and highly experienced medical scientists for a one year (approx.) Fixed Term appointment (end date ;as Principal Scientist Haematology.

The Principal Scientist is a member of the Laboratory Services Senior Management Group and in this exciting full time (temporary) position you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Haematology / Transfusion Laboratory and for ensuring compliance with all laboratory-related requirements for ongoing National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) accreditation. The Principal Scientist also provides technical governance for the Haematology / Transfusion sections of the RWH Core Laboratory and works with the Senior Scientist RWH Core Laboratory to achieve this.

Suitable applicants will possess a minimum 10 years postgraduate (qualification as defined) professional experience in a Haematology diagnostic laboratory with proven performance in a senior role, strong communication skills both verbal and written and a collaborative management style and experience in evaluating new methods and technologies related to Haematology and Transfusion laboratory processes. Relevant post graduate qualification or fellowship of the relevant professional society is highly desirable.

This position would suit a scientist looking for an opportunity to gain experience as principal of high performing team at a major teaching hospital within the Parkville precinct.
