Laboratory Manager at SGS (Shepparton, VIC)

Job Description

As a Laboratory Manager based in Shepparton, VIC., you will manage the laboratory and field sampling operations and provide technical support to ensure operational results are achieved on time and in line with SGS EHS service and quality agreements.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Manage the testing and sampling activities and instrumentation.

NATA signatory for laboratory accreditations, where qualifications meet NATA requirements.

Timely provision of services to clients and continued monitoring of performance in relation to turn-around times.

Technical mentoring and direction as required.

Assessing priorities, and effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders with a commitment to customer service excellence.

Ensure quality of data produced meets all required SGS standards and objectives. Ensure all quality programmes and objectives are met.

Sensibility checking and issuing of laboratory and field reports.

Financial management of the Shepparton business including EOM finances and forecasting.

Manage the scheduling and workload for lab and field staff.

Perform operational activities such as analysis and sampling as the workload requires.

Staff development and training in conjunction with senior management.

Staff motivation and leadership – communication of the business direction and goals.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role your skills and attributes should include:

Minimum of 5 years laboratory experience

Previous Management experience

Flexible and adaptable to change

Pragmatic approach to decision making

Teamwork and cooperation
