We are currently recruiting a DevOps Innovation Manager to join our Essential Technology team for a 12 month Fixed Term opportunity. This role can be based anywhere within Essential Energy’s operational footprint.
About the role
Reporting to the Field & Asset eTech (Essential Technology) Business Partner, as the DevOps Innovation Manager you will be responsible for identification and strategic adoption of evolving secure, innovative, enabling and human centric technologies, ensuring development teams live by the values and practices of business enablement through ICT Service delivery.
Acting as a bridge between technology and senior business leaders to identify business opportunities enabled by technological developments, you will drive business opportunities, value, safety, and growth through innovation by leveraging digital services, driving digital literacy, Cyber security practices and the digital agendas in the business to embrace emerging technologies to drive competitive advantage.
Additionally, the role will ensure the team perform at the highest levels of safety, efficiency and quality whilst managing all software development projects and related service delivery, including quality, reliability, design, and architecture.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, deploy and oversee technical operations including technical project resources (partners/subcontractors or staff), scheduling, risk management, internal and external communications and status reporting
- Responsible for recognising security threats and risks in accordance with the security standards and requirements and applying the appropriate mitigating controls
- Ensure application development remains compliant with all appropriate regulatory requirements
- Develop and implement communication strategies around appropriate technologies, process, configuration, and related procedural documentation as well as ongoing management of Application Development Frameworks
- Facilitate collaborative, cross-functional communication, improving transparency, and radiating project information and metrics, build a trusting/safe environment
- Strategic planning and alignment to organisation Strategies and industry practices and requirements
- Leading a diverse and remote technology professional teams and partners, in the delivery of organisational outcomes, that enhance and maintain Essential Energy core applications
About You
You will bring demonstrated experience in effectively managing teams in understanding and implementing high value features and requirements, and will have proven experience in technical leadership and oversight of implementation and deployment planning, system integration, ongoing data validation processes, quality assurance, delivery, operations, and sustainability of technical solutions. More specifically you have:
- Demonstrated and practical experience in implementation of Agile software development tools and methodologies and leadership of an Agile software development team
- Experience in managing an Agile highly technical, and dispersed team, through development, deployment, delivery, and maintenance phases of enterprise grade software solutions
- ICT technical knowledge capture and gathering during application development and delivery and maintain an in-depth knowledge of specific technical configuration regarding applications
In addition to being a flexible, self-motivated you will have the ability to handle varying complex workload and showcase your problem solving and decision making skills.
Required Qualification
- Bachelor of Computer Science/Software Engineering/Information Technology or demonstrated capability through past employment experience and/or relevant qualifications

- Scrum Certifications
- Masters or Post Graduate qualifications highly regarded
