Pr & Events Manager

Job Description

In this role, you will be responsible for:

1. PR and Comms

  • Manage all media liaison
  • Manage proactive and reactive media relations by building strategic relationships across key media, journalist, and industry groups
  • Develop our media relations strategy and secure regular placements in top tier media outlets
  • Craft press briefing docs, press packs and develop and pitch stories to earn coverage across the trade, business, and national media
  • Conduct media training and prepare key spokespeople
  • Manage media inquiries and interview requests.
  • Monitor, analyse and communicate PR results

2. Events

  • Identify, communicate, prepare, and host events for OMG
  • Identify, communicate, and prepare events for our sales team to attend
  • Sponsorship and expo coordination
  • Travel and accommodation booking and management
  • Event reporting

3. Awards

  • Strategically identify awards that OMG should enter
  • Build out and prepare an awards calendar
  • Fill out award documents with the help of Stakeholders if needed
  • Aim to win several awards per year

4. Reporting

  • Have good knowledge of tracking best practices to report correctly
  • Be able to report on budgets spent and targets to date for channels worked on
  • Work closely with the Hubspot team to create reporting dashboards that give all the metrics needed for channels worked on

5. Risk Management

  • Responsible for the identification and management of risk in day-to-day responsibilities
  • Comply with OMG policies and procedures including completing mandatory training within the required timeframes
  • Role model positive risk behaviours and contribute towards a strong risk culture at OMG

6. Success Criteria

  • Embraces change – is not afraid to challenge the status quo by implementing new innovative solutions to maximise the effectiveness of the channel/s you own
  • Adaptable – can quickly handle new and urgent situations that come your way in a calm, cool and collected manner  
  • Communications – can effectively communicate with peers, internal stakeholders and outside agencies.
  • Organised – Can juggle competing priorities effectively and compile project roadmaps

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in PR, Comms or Journalism or have relevant experience
  • Minimum 5yrs of experience in PR and improving sentiment
  • Experience of both Agency and Client side an advantage
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs
  • Proven experience, 5yrs in PR, Comms and Events management
  • Existing media connections
  • Ability to track sentiment, event and award outcomes
  • Proficiency in project management tools such as JIRA and Confluence
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritise work
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational and planning skills in a fast-paced environment
  • A creative mind with an ability to suggest improvements
