As a member of the Technology division, you will contribute to all aspects of the technology products and services we deliver, from technical strategy and design to coding to deployment to operation. Our products and services are leveraged across all Business Unit Platforms within the Bank to deliver industry-leading software including: CommBank App, Netbank, CommSee, CommSec, CommBiz and Commbank.com.au.

The Secure Network Data Engineering team’s mission is to enable observability by making high quality, portable, network telemetry ubiquitous and provide network data services which unites all technologies and allows teams to deliver products in a safe, secure and agile fashion. You will be part of a direct team of 5 reporting to an Executive Engineering Manager.

We’re interested in hearing from people who

• Have experience working on modernisation of streaming data pipelines across distributed systems.

• Are full stack software and data engineers, can contributing to the technical design of our data pipelines and take that design to code, deployment and operation.

• Can drive automation through understanding processes and implementing improvements.

• Can measure systems performance and working iteratively to identify key metrics to guide improvement.

• Have experience in diagnosis of operational incidents, performing root cause analysis, and working to make engineering change to resolve problems.

Tech skills

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team;

• Strong expertise in at least one or more modern languages such as Java, Python or Scala.

• Streaming frameworks such as Kafka.

• Demonstrable experience with modern software defined infrastructure and a passion to automate everything.

• Proven experience with the full DevOps lifecycle, including deployment, monitoring, patching, vulnerability management and source control systems (Git/GitHub)

• Hands on experience with SQL
