Data Insights Developer

OZ minerals Adelaide Airport, SA (South Australia)

Job Description

OZ Minerals – A Modern Mining Company

We are an Australian-based modern mining company with a focus on copper. Listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX100). We own the Prominent Hill copper-gold mine, the recently constructed ~A$1b Carrapateena copper-gold operation, extensive Brazilian operating and exploration assets and are progressing the West Musgrave project (Australia’s largest undeveloped copper-nickel resource).

Our growth strategy is focused on value creation.

We achieve success by creating value for all stakeholders, and the key things that help us are having a global copper portfolio; remaining lean and innovative; being focussed on customers; maintaining capital discipline throughout; and operating in a lean and agile manner.

Each of these elements is underpinned by safety and our How We Work Together principles – our foundations for success.

The Role

This is an opportunity to work within a modern data platform team, using agile techniques, cloud-based architectures, gaining experience in both corporate systems and the mining industry. OZ Minerals is seeking a highly skilled Data Insights Developer who can drive the design and development of high-quality dashboards and analytics for our internal customers across the Enterprise. In this role you will utilise your strong analytical skills to help understand and define real business needs, implementing Tableau dashboards based on our best practice design principles to ensure consistency across all internal customers.

The role is a 12-month contract, 5 days a week with the option of flexible working times, and the ability to choose to work from our modern office, or from home as part of our Insights Hub development team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a leader within the data insight’s function, designing and delivering high-quality analytics solutions and data visualisations that reveal key insights and enable proactive data driven decisions.
  • Put the customer at the centre of the design, understanding their needs through continuous customer engagement and agile development techniques.
  • Process and understand large volumes of data to identify what is relevant to each individual customer.
  • Collaborate with other team members and our internal Community of Practice to enhance productivity and data literacy across the enterprise.

What we are looking for

You will have proven experience designing and building expert reports and dashboards with Tableau and have a strong understanding of data modelling and SQL. You will be an extremely skilled communicator with strong commercial sense and the ability to develop relationships with customers across all levels of data maturity. Experience working within a consulting environment will be highly regarded.

  • Strong Tableau skills and experience (current Tableau certification preferable)
  • Business analysis skills, qualifications and demonstratable experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience in documenting your solution, not just building it
  • Experience facilitating solution testing with business representatives
  • An understanding of Data Visualisation best practices
  • Ability to write and understand SQL
  • Experience remotely and in a team environment
    • Utilising tools such as Teams/Zoom for stakeholder interactions
    • Facilitating gathering of requirements
    • Attending and contributing to virtual meetings including stakeholder meetings, stand ups and sprint reviews
  • Worked with familiar tasking tools (e.g. Clickup, Jira, Planner)
