What you’ll be doing

The Sleep Laboratory at Royal North Shore hospital provides a comprehensive diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing support service for patients referred for wide variety of sleep-related disorders. In this senior day-time only role you will be responsible for (i) analysing, scoring and interpreting overnight polysomnograms including therapy initiation and efficacy studies; (ii) preparing preliminary notifications, technical summaries and reports; (iii) carrying out daytime vigilance tests (MSLTs and/or MWTs); (iv) providing technical support and advice to weekly CPAP follow-up clinics; (v) monitoring signal and equipment faults, and escalating quality, risk and safety issues, (vi) contributing to the unit‘s education, research and continuous improvement activities. 

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic person to work in an internationally renowned unit, with a multidisciplinary team committed to providing high quality care and advancing the field of sleep medicine. You will have a sound background in polysomnography methods and procedures, be comfortable working independently and operating and troubleshooting in an advanced IT environment, have excellent problem-solving, time management, communication and organisational skills, strong attention to detail with a focus on quality, and a passion for person-centred care.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Degree in science or applied science from an approved tertiary institution requiring a minimum of 3 years full-time study, or such qualifications as deemed equivalent.
  • Proficiency in sleep study analysis and reporting and conducting daytime vigilance (MSLT /MWT) tests according to ASA/AASM criteria and protocols.
  • Outstanding problem-solving, time management, communication and organisational skills, with a strong attention to detail with a focus on quality.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake and complete tasks with minimal supervision and work successfully in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate.
