Your New Role
We have multiple opportunities available for Software Engineers to join our high performing Intelligence line of business, working on an exciting, nationally significant, and highly visible federal government customer. The project is focussed on developing the data management platform that drives one of the most visited websites in Australia. The roles are multi-faceted as we are looking for unique individuals whom are able to contribute broadly across the software development lifecycle in a range of ways, including but not limited to: agile software development; DevOps; Data Integration; Release Management; Software Management; Sustainment; and Database administration.
The individuals we are looking for are highly motivated software engineers and able to work flexibly as either a domain specialist, focussed on expertise within a narrow field of view, or with broad experience across the lifecycle, and may be interested in managing teams and leading people.
The individuals we are looking for will be experienced in and appreciate the ins and outs of system development methodologies, tools, practices and approaches such that best practices and novel concepts can be thoughtfully devised and experimented with in our endless search for optimal development and delivery performance.
The successful candidate(s) will have strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, experience in integrating multi-technology platforms, solid communication skills and a desire to tackle complex problems in a unique environment. We are looking for hands-on and experienced people that love everything about building software, solving engineering problems, and leveraging innovative ideas and technologies.
Qualifications
About You and What You’ll Bring
Attributes, attitudes and behaviours that will be highly desirable include and of the following:
- A love of all things software and a desire to solve interesting problems through coding;
- Being adaptable to change and pivoting where required;
- Significant hands-on experience in delivering a variety of software solutions;
- Experience in the design and implementation of DevOps approaches to software development;
- Being familiar with a range of relevant technologies including but not limited to: NiFi, Ansible, Spring, Python, PostgreSQL, Java;
- Being familiar with a range of relevant technical domains for example: geospatial technologies; data management; automated build and deployments; cloud technologies;
- Hand-on experience in setting up software development tool-chains including but not limited to configuration management tools, artefact management tools, code quality and security analysis tools, automated testing tools, integrated software development environments, continuous integration tools, collaboration tools, and software and architecture modelling tools.
- A hands-on preference to approaching your work with a strong desire to solve problems by doing;
- A strong level of familiarity with software development lifecycles and related best practices such as those related to human engineering, user experience engineering, software safety, and others;
- Real end-to-end experience with the delivery of an software development program from cradle to grave;
- Strong levels of comfort in managing ambiguity and making decisions even where information is incomplete or unclear;
- A love of immersion in a field or discipline of interest that enables deep operational and business insights to be learned and superior conclusions to be drawn;
- A lack of satisfaction if you see a process or procedure or methodology that is sub-optimal, that you have not improved, enhanced or in some way made better;
- A curiosity for novel and new ideas and problems that you are then able to use your experience and knowledge to help solve;
- Either or both of: a keen attention to detail or an ability to understand the big picture in the context of problem solving, analysis and design;
- Comfort in working as an individual contributor and as a part of a team depending on the task at hand;
- Experience within an agile development team will be very useful including SCRUM or Kanban;
- Solid organizational skills including the ability manage staff that may or may-not being directly reporting to you;
Additional Information
This role does require the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen and to be able to hold an NV-1 security clearance.
