About our Role:

We have an exciting permanent opportunity for a Software Engineer in Adelaide or Melbourne.

This role is ideal for people who want to develop and deliver software that continuously enhances the capabilities of complex systems. Working with various situational awareness researchers and subject matter experts, you will be part of an Agile software development team tasked with realising a vision that delivers technical superiority in the electromagnetic spectrum.

You will work across the full software development lifecycle, delivering software that leverages the latest research in areas such as situational awareness, radar, communications and human factors. We provide team members opportunities to lead while providing a supportive environment to continuously develop your skills. You will always be supported when you identify and propose opportunities for improvement, in particular in our evolving initiatives in AI/ML and DevSecOps.

Please note –  You would need to be an Australian citizen with a current or ability to get an AGSVA NV1 security clearance – non-citizens will be automatically excluded from the process.

What you will be involved in:

• Code development for UIs, API’s, back-end components, and data ETL processes for solutions deployed to web, desktop, and cloud environments.   
• Supporting technical requirements elaboration and creation of user stories and acceptance criteria. 
• Developing automated unit and integration tests. 
• Working under Agile (scrum) development and release processes in a team environment. 
• Contributing to the preparation of technical documentation and software architecture documents. 
• Engaging with clients and stakeholders to demonstrate work in progress and receive feedback. 
• Supporting technical pre-sales activities, estimation of services work and technical input into business development and bid activities. 
• Sharing knowledge and mentoring junior staff to develop and improve the Nova Systems software development capability. 
• Contribute to initiatives to standardize our software development approach. 

What we would like from you:

• Strong software development and coding skills using modern languages (e.g. Javascript, .NET), frameworks (e.g. AngularJS) and database technologies (RDBMS, NoSQL). 
• Experience in the practical application of the Agile development methodology through requirements analysis, backlog management, sprint planning, testing, and release. 
• Experience using scripting languages (such as Python) to customise applications and automate processes. 
• Working knowledge of the deployment of custom software solutions to cloud infrastructure. 
• Able to analyse and understand complex processes and information workflows. 
• Comfortable using configuration management tools and testing frameworks.
