About the role

This role really is unique!  There are so many opportunities within the First Nations employment space currently but there are few that allow you the scope and reach this role does!  This role enables you to have breadth and depth of engagement and support with large Australian organisations, Indigenous employment service providers and practitioners across the country. This roles leads the  First Nations Employment Network to bring together a coalition of employers to share experiences and drive First Nations Employment parity forward. 

We are proud that our Indigenous Employment Network offers a safe space for Indigenous and non-Indigenous practitioners to come together to share experiences and  explore evidence informed Indigenous employment practices based on the Woort Koorliny Australian Indigenous Index 2022. .

In this role you will be leading the strategy for the network, backed by evidence-based thought leadership, you will be bringing like-minded individuals and business together to help drive comprehensive systemic and cultural change.  What does this look like on a daily basis?  Our network has over 100 organisation members and continues to grow! Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing and delivering regular , roundtables, workshops and events
• Building deep relationships with employers
• Providing 1:1 advisory support and advice to employers based on Generation One research
• Sharing First Nations employment related insights, research and trends with your Network members
• Managing project plans and providing regular project updates to key stakeholders, internally and externally
• Growing a diverse membership base for the network
• Supporting the development, implementation and evaluation of the employer approach for research, including the Australian First Nations Employment Index

Are you passionate and driven to work strategically towards achieving First Nations employment parity?  Are you ready to listen and yarn, then act and empower?

We are looking for an experienced Indigenous practitioner with the following skills and qualities:

• A breadth and depth of experience across the complete employee lifecycle
• Exposure in a large organisation in implementing strategies, systems and projects to budget
• A networker, a relationship builder, you know how to listen, to influence and to advocate for change
• A tactical and strategic operator – you have a good balance – you’re pragmatic but understand the importance of bigger picture thinking
• Experience delivering user-centric approaches, using resources and programs to help influence and drive change
• A solutions focus in the face of challenges
• Adaptable, flexible and most importantly enthusiastic!
