The Position
St John of God Subiaco Hospital is the oldest and biggest hospital in our group, having been established in 1898. With over 550 beds, it is one of Australia’s most respected providers of health care services and an internationally renowned leader in clinical trials and research. SJG Subiaco Hospital is also a leader in innovation and adoption of new technologies, including the implementation of robotic surgical devices and virtual reality imaging technology. Our hospital is located in the heart of Subiaco close to stylish cafes, boutiques and with easy access to the train station.
An exciting opportunity exists to work with a positive and enthusiastic team amongst our Endoscopy ward as the Endoscopy Service Assistant. As an integral multidisciplinary team member, the Endoscopy Service Assistant provides a high standard of quality care for patients in the areas of environment, welfare and patient handling; maintains effective cleaning, decontamination, packing and sterilising of items for reprocessing in accordance with relevant standards; ensures safely transport, assist and lift patients to and from the Procedure Rooms and other Units as required; and supports the medical and nursing caregivers by undertaking selected cleaning duties within the unit.

This position is on a Permanent Part time basis, working 70 hours a fortnight.
The successful candidate will have:
- A willingness and capacity to embrace the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.
- Formal qualification in health related field or extensive experience in endoscopy processing or sterilization services.
- Understanding of, and ability to apply occupational health and safety principles to ensure own safety and that of others in the workplace.
- Ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of safe basic manual handling principles and be physically capable of undertaking duties including pushing, pulling and lifting activities.
- Demonstrated ability to take all actions to avoid, eliminate or minimise hazards.
- Well-developed interpersonal & relationship building skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service.
- Ability to work autonomously or within a team.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise & multitask to achieve desired results in a fast paced work environment.
- Coordinate and organise resources to maximise all opportunities.
- Commitment to continuous improvement.
- Must be available for a range of shifts (morning and afternoon) across a 5 day operation.
