We are looking for experienced, passionate, and highly driven Quality Engineering Manager/Chapter Lead, who is looking to step into a new and exciting opportunity to create, define and establish the testing and quality agendas.  The role will see you set a clear vision, directive and be comfortable in a complex work environment, impacting the outcome of business-critical software projects that cut across our proud legacy, and modern application architecture.

What will you do?

  • Supporting our ways of working transformation and movement towards a Chapter model that is helped by your deep understanding of Agile product development processes
  • Using your communication and influencing skills to manage Quality outcomes from a rich and varied landscape of partners and providers
  • Championing continuous improvement and identifying opportunities to simplify, re-use and automate
  • Leveraging your strong understanding and thought leadership of Quality Engineering/Chapter Lead principles to help improve quality and test activities
  • Build relationships with cross-functional teams to guide decisions, drive alignment and prioritisation
  • Support the stakeholders and development teams in preparing for and executing the planning events
  • A ‘servant leader’ to the EQS team members. Clearing the way, assisting them work through challenges, always leading by example
  • Act as an ‘Enablement cell’ that ensures the transition of information between change and transformation is seamless.  
  • Provides quality data for Product teams to refine their backlog and ensure those solutions are consumed efficiently & effectively by the Lines of Business

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills, experience, education and/or expertise:

  • A passionate people leader who has led members from diverse disciplines and backgrounds, running in multi speed and cadence delivery methods
  • The ability to define and execute strategies that map the technology deliverables to the business goals
  • Influential leadership and interpersonal skills that enable you to communicate and manage relationships across the organisation – from your reports, peers, stakeholders to senior executives
  • Experience using metrics to measure, influence and initiate change and behaviours that directly impact customer success
  • The ability to tell a story, ensuring you can translate complex technical solutions and advice into clear, specific information that is understood by all
  • Quality Engineering Manager/Chapter Leads often act as representatives of the Chapter, able to effectively communicate its goals and accomplishments to stakeholders within Westpac

Some of the technologies and patterns we work with include:

  • JavaScript, ReactJS, Java, Microservices / API’s, UI Automation (Selenium / Cypress)
  • Continuous delivery and DevOps, Containerisation, Automation, Amazon Web Services, ‘Evergreen’ platforms
  • Complex and disparate non-production environments (modern & legacy) and data landscape
