Leidos Australia is looking for talented and motivated Software Engineers to join our team based in Melbourne to work on a mission critical user application implemented on a geographically distributed virtualised enterprise IT infrastructure.
As a Software Engineer at Leidos you will be responsible for performing complex software engineering assignments requiring familiarity and expertise with a broad field of engineering and technical knowledge. This is a rare opportunity to work in a truly Agile environment, with customer representatives on site as Product Owner on a day to day basis, and cross-functional teams able to take new features through the full software engineering lifecycle for an important Defence mission critical program.
Working in a cross-functional Agile development team you will:
- Collaborate and innovate with our talented cross-functional and cross-domain teams on compelling software solutions, constantly refining our approach and methods
- Contribute to software design, documentation, development, integration, test and release/deployment
- Contribute to user interface design and development
- Contribute to the management and building of DevOps/Agile process and tools
- Perform software prototyping, investigations, research and development
- Contribute to software planning and estimating, status monitoring and reporting
- Engage with other professionals across the broader team and the business to grow our solutions and your career
This role does require the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen and hold a current NV1/NV2 AGSVA security clearance.
Qualifications
About You and What You’ll Bring
You will demonstrate a pro-active approach with the ability to understand the business, identify issues and develop enduring and trusting relationships with both the vast talent in Leidos and a broad range of customers.
Coupled with your education you ideally have exposure to some of the below tools and methodologies. We do not expect you to be an expert in each of the points below, if you meet only a few of them we still encourage you to apply:
- Substantial experience with Agile, Scrum and associated methodologies
- Experience in integration with external systems/applications (REST API, integration protocols, JSON/XML)
- Experience in the integration and customisation of open source technologies (NiFi, Kafka, Elastic (ELK) Stack, Solr)
- Experience in CI/CD tools and technologies and infrastructure as code (Ansible, Jenkins, git)
- Experience in Java and related open source frameworks
- Knowledge and application of a broad range of skills including software, systems and enterprise architecture, software and hardware engineering, integration
- Good problem solving skills
- Experience in Linux and Windows
- Willingness to document and improve software development processes
- Demonstrated ability to produce consistently good results in a complex environment
