Due to an internal promotion, we are looking to recruit an experienced and accomplished Group Manager Engineering and Technical. Reporting to the Group General Manager Operations, you will direct the engineering and technical services for all Detmold Group manufacturing sites establishing the necessary guidelines to ensure maximum productive capacity and continuous improvement in operating efficiency, in accordance with safety, corporate standards and strategic objectives.
More specifically, you will:
- Ensure group wide engineering standards, machinery capability standards and material technical specifications are set and maintained
- Ensure engineering activity, from design and conceptualisation to execution is completed in accordance with strict safety guidelines, follows the defined engineering standards, in support of production efficiency and the achievement of strategic business goals
- Provide technical advice and develop engineering solutions to support continuous improvement in operating efficiency of plant and equipment
- Interface with machinery suppliers to ensure adherence to engineering standards as well as to understand engineering and operating parameters and requirements
- Keep abreast of industry and technology trends and developments
- Maintain effective control of major capital projects to support business performance in accordance with the goals of each project
- Ensure capital investment programs are delivered on time and within budget to the satisfaction of key stakeholders
- Ensure the implementation and maintenance of engineering design review processes to improve the safety, quality, and robustness of engineering solutions
- Define, implement, and refine product development, testing and manufacturing processes
- Manage the Global engineering team and develop capability to ensure that skills keep pace with changes in the industry
- Create machinery maintenance routines and standards to assist the manufacturing facilities in caring for and operating the business assets over the long term.
To be considered for this role, ideally you will have:
- A tertiary education engineering degree coupled with successful experience in Engineering, Maintenance and Technical roles
- Experience gained in a manufacturing environment involved in project management and/or maintenance in continuous manufacturing, preferably from paper, printing, or packaging industries
- Demonstrated experience in Project Management, positive coaching and technical leadership
- An ability to work in a cross-functional global team environment, interacting effectively with multiple cultures
- Excellent communication skills and an ability to negotiate and influence
- Dynamic problem-solving skills and an ability to foresee obstacles and set a path for the team
- Exceptional Cross-cultural Awareness, emotional intelligence, and respect for diversity
