Part Time 0.6 (3 days per week), 3 Year Fixed Term Appointment

Based at La Trobe University’s Bundoora Campus

Salary $118,289 per annum inclusive of 17% superannuation

About the position

The Clinical Trials Platform is now being set up and will provide researchers with training, expert advice and services to support the conduct of clinical trials to the highest possible international standards. The Database Specialist role has been established to support the management of research data and use of digital tools in the conduct of clinical trials.

The key function of this role is to provide expertise in best practice and have responsibility for the management of clinical trial data. The appointee will have detailed understanding of best practice in the collection and management of sensitive data, ICH Good Clinical Practice Guidelines and the regulatory framework governing clinical trials.

Skills & Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have;

A degree with substantial extension of the theories and principles, learned through experience; or a range of management experience; or postgraduate qualifications, or progress towards postgraduate qualifications with extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience.

An understanding of ICH Good Clinical Practice Guidelines, the National Clinical Trials Governance Framework, National Standards and Quality Health Service indicators and a detailed knowledge of the ethical considerations of participant privacy and safety.

Demonstrated expertise in the use of digital tools, including REDCap, for the acquisition and management of human data in clinical research, and risk mitigation to maintain strict adherence to data security and confidentiality.

Experience in the development and review of Case Report Forms and completion guidelines aligned with the database and protocols.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on the ability to evaluate, analyse and communicate information clearly.
