Senior Cloud Data Engineer

Our Purpose

Reporting to the Lead Data Engineer and performing at a Senior level across the Cloud Data Engineering domain you will achieve positive business outcomes in the development of patterns for appropriate ETL/data import and interfacing mechanisms such as consumption layer databases, APIs and caches that underpin our digital transformation roadmap. This senior role will see you deliver data solution designs and architecture, working in with the function’s leads and the Enterprise architecture group to continually mature and evolve the data landscape. As a Senior in the team your will contribute to reviewing business requirements, create data mappings between systems, data modelling, data profiling, query design, data flow design whilst interacting with key stakeholders across our matrix organisation.

At our company, everything will be at scale, so you’ll need experience handling large scale builds and deployments, complicated architecture that covers microservices, containers and clusters within Cloud. You will need to understand the broader scope, keeping an eye on many moving parts that is typical of large-scale programs of work whilst working in agile delivery teams. This role will be instrumental to deliver our technology solution roadmap by utilising your experience and skills in the following areas;

• Strong experience minimum 10 years in Cloud Data Engineering, design and exposure to multiple cloud data platforms in a similar “Senior” level position
• Superior communication and influencing skills working across a matrix organisation and functional departments
• Tertiary qualification in Bachelor or Master degree on IT or equivalent field compliment your industry experience
• Experience (and relevant certifications) in AWS cloud data environments including tools such as S3, EMR/EC2, Lambda, Glue, Airflow, Redshift, Databricks, Talend, Tableau, PowerBI, Kafka/streaming technologies, Spark, + Azure DevOps
• Expert big data and query language skills such as SQL, Java, Python, R, PySpark

• Experience establishing, curating, and maintaining Logical and Physical data models
• Experience designing, developing, and publishing data ETL pipelines
