  • Contract Start Date: April 2023 | 6 Month Contracts
  • Multiple positions available
  • Hourly rate: $30 – $45 per hour plus 10.5% Superannuation (dependent on experience)

We are seeking highly motivated and experienced Administrators to join the team at a Government Department in the ACT. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional administrative support to the department, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.

As an Administrator, you will perform a range of duties, including filing, scanning, photocopying, archiving, and fax operations. Additionally, you may be responsible for preparing cash payment summaries, banking reports, and maintaining wage and salary records while ensuring compliance with purchasing and inventory control requirements. You will also manage complaints, queries, and problems from relevant stakeholders and maintain an up-to-date level of knowledge regarding the department’s policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in high paced administration work, demonstrating strong attention to detail and excellent computer planning skills to manage multiple priorities. You should possess the ability to work autonomously, demonstrate initiative, good judgment, and discretion in carrying out assigned duties, and provide constructive feedback to less experienced Administrators. You should have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of internal staff and external clients.

Typical Duties & Responsibilities:

The Administrator will be responsible for the following, but not limited to:

  • Filing, photocopying, scanning, archiving and fax operations;
  • Operating a variety of office equipment;
  • Preparing cash payment summaries, banking reports and bank statements as required;
  • Calculating and maintaining wage and salary records, following credit referral procedures; applying purchasing and inventory control requirements as required;
  • Provide supervision and support to less experienced Receptionists;
  • May be involved in on-boarding and orientation for new starters in the Client’s office;
  • Maintain an up to date level of knowledge in regard to the Client’s policies and procedures;
  • Providing specialised advice and information about the Client’s products and services;
  • Managing complaints, queries and problems from relevant stakeholders using a high degree of interpersonal skills (including escalations from less experienced Receptionists); and
  • Any other duties incidental to the above.

Experience/ Skills:

  • Demonstrate potential and have experience in high paced administration work;
  • Have strong attention to detail, computer planning skills to manage multiple priorities;
  • Ability to work autonomously;
  • Demonstrates initiative, good judgment and discretion in carrying out their assigned duties;
  • Supervises less experienced Administrators (or similar) and able to provide constructive feedback in relation to the quality of their work; and
  • The ability to communicate, written and verbally, clearly and effectively with all levels of internal staff and external clients.

Qualifications:

  • You can work as an Administrator without formal qualifications, however, a certificate III or IV in business, administration or another related field may be useful.
