Senior Manager, Security Governance And Risk

The opportunity

 

Right now, we are seeking a Senior Manager, Security Governance and Risk to join Sydney Metro’s Enterprise Security function.

 

Reporting to the Director Security Governance and Risk, this is a senior position with  accountability for the development, implementation and ongoing management of Sydney Metro’s security framework, policy, standards and capability to drive effective and robust security measures across all areas of Sydney Metro.  As a senior Subject Matter Expert in Security Management and in the application of security controls to mitigate risk, this position has a key role in the ongoing assessment of the current and future security threat environment and facilitates proactive decision making in Enterprise Security. 

 

Key accountabilities include :

 

• Provide expert advice to contribute to the development and maintenance of effective security, risk, and governance frameworks, policies, standards and guidelines to support best practice in security governance and assurance in line with legislative requirements and government policy 

• Provide oversight and advice for the assessment of security-related threats, risks and their reporting, including mitigation strategies and control effectiveness to assist with the protection of people, other assets and systems 

• Oversee the management and maintenance of the security intelligence function to support effective decision-making concerning security-related risk management

• Provide advice and expertise to support the development and delivery of training and awareness initiatives to embed security, risk and governance management practices and assurance processes which enhance workforce understanding of security requirements and compliance with those requirements

• Provide expert advice to contribute to the development and delivery of the personnel security programme

 

This role is a temporary fixed term full time opportunity for five years (until May 2028).

About you

 

You will be a well-rounded security, governance and risk professional with substantial experience in security management with a particular emphasis on assessment and the application of security controls to mitigate security-related threats and risks.

 

You thrive in complex environments and have demonstrated leadership and management experience with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.  You are always keen to grow your knowledge and keep abreast of current and emerging issues and trends, including domestic and international best practice and look for innovative approaches to the work you do.

 

Your career to date will have enabled you to gain knowledge of critical infrastructure protection, including in personnel, physical, information and cyber security as well as an understanding of business continuity, emergency and crisis management.

In addition, you will possess relevant post graduate tertiary qualifications and/or certifications in security management (or a related discipline) and satisfy necessary enhanced background checking and meet Australian Government Security Vetting Agency requirements to be able to maintain a minimum  NV1 National Security Clearance.

This is a Transport Senior Service role (TSSM) offering an attractive remuneration package.  This role is a temporary fixed term full time opportunity for five years (until May 2028).
