    The Department of Education is the largest provider of public education in Australia with responsibility for delivering high-quality public education to two-thirds of the NSW student population.

    Student Wellbeing Support comprises of four Delivery Support teams who support schools to implement Wellbeing policies, reforms and inclusive practices across schools. The team provides the ongoing delivery of existing policies and operations and supports the design and delivery of operational best practice across schools. A key part of the work within Student Wellbeing Support is to manage system and school supports for the Team Around a School and Team Within a School by partnering with schools to provide additional targeted support to individual students and assisting school teams to improve student learning and wellbeing practices.

    About the role

    The role provides quality administrative services to facilitate the effective and efficient operation of business units including the day-to-day operations that support the Delivery Support teams and Student Wellbeing Support strategic goals.

    Your key accountabilities will include:

  • Contribute to efficient business operations by providing a range of quality executive and administrative support services including arranging meetings, appointments and the preparation and distribution of agendas, minutes and supporting materials, to support the smooth operation of the business unit.
  • Manage the distribution of incoming and outgoing mail, information and requests for the unit using TRIM and establish and maintain administrative procedures and processes to ensure timely completion of correspondence and briefing requests.
  • Produce a range of documents using MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) to support the work of senior officers and unit team members.
  • Undertake research to prepare documents, databases, briefings and reports to support the effective operation of the unit.
  • Respond to both internal and external customers while maintaining strict confidentiality and sensitivity in a responsive, customer focused manner and ensure that targeted and timely information supplied resolves the customer request.
  • Identify areas for improvement in administrative support and service delivery, implement changes directed by senior managers and liaise with other support staff to ensure that general administrative services provided are consistent across the division.
  • Develop an annual work plan that articulates, clarifies and documents the role’s specific responsibilities, key deliverables, expected outcomes and indicators of success over a 12 month period.
