Direct Marketing Specialist

Location: Melbourne VIC

The Opportunity:
We are delighted to be partnering exclusively with a leading not-for-profit organisation that improve the quality of life for the most vulnerable and disadvantaged in our community, including women, children and people living in conflict or disaster-affected areas. Our client does this by providing medical and rehabilitation services, supporting inclusive education, and by offering solutions on a community level that drive lasting change. The mission of their marketing and fundraising team is to share truthful stories compelling enough to raise awareness and generate revenue for the organisation so it can continue to be a lasting support structure for the communities they serve.

About You:
You consider yourself a subject-matter expert in direct-marketing campaigns and have a passion for telling stories through print media and accompanying digital and social platforms. Your ideal team is a collaborative and supportive one, where the focus is taking accountability for your work but also taking ‘one for the team’ to ensure the outcomes are met. As the Direct Marketing Specialist, you will be responsible for developing a suite of integrated campaigns to acquire new supporters and grow income from existing Australian supporters.  You will manage a divided calendar of Appeals and other fundraising communications, and innovate engaging fundraising tactics to deepen supporter engagement. 

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Implement strategic testing into all direct marketing communications and use findings to influence future communications with prospective and existing donors
  • Manage and implement strategic dollar handles to increase donor engagement and responses
  • Manage an online cold lead campaign, liaising with telemarketing agencies to test new acquisitions
  • Work in accordance with the lapsed donor strategy to test activations for intermediate and deeply lapsed donors
  • Manage the development of supporter report back, thank you and field update communications
  • Prepare comprehensive campaigns, creative copy and data briefs

The Candidate:
To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Marketing, Communication degree or equivalent
  • A minimum of 5 years of direct marketing experience, preferably from within the fundraising sector, however candidates from the commercial sector are encouraged to apply
  • Experience writing creative copy
  • Excellent understanding and execution of direct marketing principles
  • Experience developing EDMs, SMS communications, social media, and print campaigns
  • An aptitude for analysing marketing data and creating marketing reports
  • Passion for the not-for-profit sector, especially fundraising marketing

The Offer:
A salary of up to $90K plus superannuation and an extra week of leave is on offer along with attractive NFP salary packaging. This role is currently being offered as a 12-month, full-time fixed term contract with the potential to extend to a permanent placement. A hybrid working model is in place where the requirement is to work from the office only 2 days a week.
