About the opportunity
A great opportunity where you can shape, build and maintain Bupa’s cloud platform management practices to continually optimise for cost, security, performance and availability.
This is a 12-month contract. The preferred location is Melbourne, but you can be based in Sydney or Brisbane.
How can you help?
- Drive adoption of modern engineering practices within across Bupa’s cloud environment, such as:
- Evangelise and apply good cloud practices such as ‘everything as code’, elasticity and rightsizing, cloud economics and cost minimisation, and designing for measurement in cloud.
- Collaborate with DevOps and security engineers to embed good practices early in development processes and application build, eg support development of templates, policy and patterns; ‘shift left’.
- Design and implement cloud operations automation that measures and maintains cloud workload health, such as alerting, logging, scaling, healing and health notifications.
- Build and maintain Azure DevOps pipelines to deploy and test the above using automation tooling such as PowerShell and Terraform to automate workload deployment, management and remediation activities.
- Support the Cloud Operations team to introduce, maintain and troubleshoot Azure management automation. Examples include:
- Lead the delivery of elegant, automated processes for change detection, tag healing, alerting, optimisation, garbage collection or other Azure management good practices.
- Develop standards and configurations for Azure Policies to enforce cost management, compliance, and other Azure management functions.
- Being a role model to Cloud Operations engineers.
- Consult to a variety of architecture, development and operations teams, including:
- Identifying opportunities to optimise workloads;
- Reviewing designs and recommending changes to optimise for cloud; and
- Supporting project and product teams to modernise & optimise workloads.
- Provide troubleshooting assistance and support service requests.
What do you need?
- Strong experience in deploying, managing or supporting Microsoft Azure workloads at scale.
- Have deep experience with and understanding of the Microsoft technology stack, including on premises, Azure services and directory & identity services at scale.
- Demonstrated experience with contemporary development principles and tooling: ‘everything as code’, version-controlled change, continuous delivery and automated testing.
- Demonstrated skills in PowerShell, Azure Resource Manager, Azure Automation, Active Directory and/or Azure Active directory.
- Demonstrated skill in DevOps and Continuous Delivery including source control, deployment pipelines.
- Experience authoring and modifying, clean self documenting code using an IaC platform such as Terraform
- Ideally, possess certifications in
- ITIL or Agile and experience in a commercial environment.
- Relevant recognised specialist industry certification such as Azure Associate or Expert
