The Opportunity

The Senior Design Engineer – TCS will be responsible for design, or review of the Train Control systems and processes in accordance with project specifications and as guided or directed by the Project Engineer/Design Manager. On day-to-day activities shall report to the Design manager, and to the Engineering manager of Line of business functions

Key responsibilities include

  • Coordinate the designs and selection of equipment to suit the contract requirements.
  • Coordinate or generate the contract Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Prepare designs or conduct reviews in accordance with the company design process, engineering instructions and quality procedures.
  • Prepare, register, and revise all company related inspection and test and quality documents.
  • Prepare Engineering documentation as required by the Design or Construction Manager and/or Engineering/Project Manager.
  • Review and agree with Planning Engineer / Design Manager / Project manager timeframes shown on respective programs.
  • Attend design reviews as requested by the Project Engineer / Design Manager
  • Provide technical advice to the functional Managers

Requirements to be successful

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline and able to obtain Acceptance by Engineers Australia or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in the Train Control System industry mainly in the TCS design area with some on site work involved in testing and commissioning.
