This is a 12-month position with the opportunity for renewal.

Do you share our purpose and passion? What you’ll do Capilano University is committed to providing settlement and community connections activities and services to immigrants. Under the limited supervision of the Dean, Education, Health and Human Development, the Settlement Services Assistant works to help immigrants assisting them either individually or in groups, including supporting them to access public services and community resources by identifying needs and making appropriate referrals to community agencies and establishing a mentoring/hosting program.

The Settlement Services Assistant works individually with program participants to conduct personal needs assessments and handles sensitive and confidential information. The incumbent will promote the program, arrange and attend community meetings to increase communication about immigrant-related issues and assist with the contract reporting. What you’ll bring

  • Diploma in a related human/social service field
  • Proficiency in a second language is an asset.
  • Two years of related experience
