Events Officer – NSW Government

A fantastic opportunity with a large Government organisation in the emergency services sector, working within a friendly and supportive team.

We are seeking an experienced Events Officer to plan, coordinate and manage processes across protocol and special events across NSW.

  • Wollongong location with hybrid working flexibility
  • $40.95ph + super
  • Immediate start through to 23rd June 2023
  • Full time, Monday to Friday
  • The role:

  • Supporting the department with the coordination, implementation and delivery of a range internal and external events across NSW, maximising stakeholder participationand meeting brief requirements
  • You will be required to coordinate and undertake agreed project and events activities to contribute to successful delivery of key projects and events on time, within budget, and in accordance with relevant objectives, policies and procedures.
  • Responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver detailed plans, calendar of events, and operational event planning processes and schedules including:- Budgets- Identifying resource requirements- Risk management- Managing stakeholder consultation
  • Securing venues, facilities and technical requirements for each event
  • Coordinating with suppliers
  • Prepare briefing notes, advice and related documentation in support of initiatives and activities for functions and events
  • Managing invitations, RSVPs and guest lists
  • Ensuring optimal engagement and contribution from stakeholders who may have differing priorities so that all aspects of events can be delivered
  • Managing a range of events and related activities concurrently, with varying timelines and workloads and with limited resources, in a demanding work environment
  • Managing email enquiries and phone calls that may arise 
  • Working as a team player to ensure that all tasks are completed before the deadline date 
  • Following established government processes 
  • Meeting tight deadlines 
  • Processing invoices and managing records and ensuring filing is completed in line with the organisation’srecord keeping processes
  • Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in an events or project support role
  • Highly organised and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Time management skills
  • Administrative skills
  • Flexible and adaptable given the fast-paced work environment
  • Good people skills and willingness to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to manage a project
