At Wrest Point Hotel Casino, we pride ourselves in being Hobart’s Home of Entertainment. We host conferences, exhibitions, product launches, gala dinners, cocktail receptions, and special events with immense care and passion. Equipped to cater for a small breakout group wanting to abseil from our rooftop through to a sit-down gala event for 600, we can tailor a Hobart event to suit. 

We are currently seeking a Banquets Head Chef to take the reins and lead the team with professionalism, care and passion for the industry.

To succeed in this position, you will have the ability to leverage off your previous banquets and leadership experience, including mentoring and motivating others whilst engaging and inspiring your team and driving. You will demonstrate a dedication to excellence in food production with a commitment to quality and consistency, as well as display comprehensive knowledge of contemporary and traditional food styles. Experience working within in a similar sized property or multi outlet venue will be attractive to us. 

There is also an administrative component to this role which will see you responsible for a range of routine tasks including: scheduling the department’s rosters, which will require you to have sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. It is essential that you have completed your trade certificate (Certificate III in Commercial Cookery) and have a thorough understanding of and adherence to WHS standards & policies and HACCP principles.

· have prior experience in a similar role or minimum experience as a Chef de Partie,

· have strong experience managing expenses in a restaurant (food costs, stock ordering and labour costs),

· can work in a corporate environment within company policies and guidelines,

· enjoy motivating and coaching others, and

· have the flexibility to work across a range of shifts including evenings, weekends and public holidays,
