Senior Network Engineer

Job Summary

The Satellite Regulatory and RF Engineering team has key responsibility for Satellite Spectrum Management and Planning including management of Optus Satellite Networks through the ACMA and ITU. The role will be working with Global and regional satellite operators including their associated administrations for coordination activities. The role also has the responsibility of RF engineering on earth stations in various places in Australia to ensure that all design and build are in accordance with latest technological developments and provide engineering supports with Tier 1 and 2 in operations.

Senior Network Engineer Regulatory and RF is a key role in Satellite Regulatory and RF Engineering team which is responsible for Satellite networks coordination/management and RF engineering detail design & implementation for Optus Earth Stations.

Key Accountabilities:

Key Requirements:

• Assisting with the Management of Optus satellite frequency spectrum.
• Frequency coordination of Optus satellite coverage with other satellite operators in the same region.
• Responding to internal regulatory enquiries for current & planned Optus satellite resources.
• Assisting with the Management of ACMA and ITU Licensing for Optus satellites and earth stations.
• As requested by the Regulatory Manager attending national, regional and International Regulatory meetings relating to satellite matters.
• Assisting the Senior Technical Specialist in the Architecture and RF engineering for specialised RF systems.
• Producing detail designs and technical commercial presentations on RF systems and the implementation of the design.
• Continuous development and implementation of network enhancements in a controlled and diligent manner.
• Continuous enhancement of operational support systems, monitoring and reporting systems for operational efficiencies and better customer experience
• Handover and upskill Engineering and Operations teams on new technologies and platforms.

  • A relevant degree in Engineering (Electrical Engineering, Communications or similar).
  • Extensive Engineering capabilities of Microwave and RF applications and communication.
  • Understanding in Radio Regulations in Satellite.
  • Understanding in Satellite systems.
  • Demonstrated skills to support product process development.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills across various subsystems to deliver and assure Optus Satellite services
  • Ability to negotiate effectively to achieve desirable outcomes in pre- and post-contract activities
  • Vendor and Customer management and negotiations
