  • The Digital Support for Labs program will bring an enterprise-wide, secure and sustainable digital evolution to the labs owned and run by CSIRO, in support of the Labs of the Future initiative. The program will develop digital solutions for labs that integrate lab equipment with IT systems in a way that is cyber safe and compliant with international standards and regulatory agency requirements. The solutions will be standardised across all (or most) CSIRO labs, to make it easier for researchers, instruments and data to move between labs; and to streamline IMT support.

    The Digital Support for Labs system architect will be facilitating the development and maintenance of the overarching Digital Labs system blueprint and roadmaps and will lead development of concept designs and then the logical and detailed designs for technology and digital delivery.

    Your duties will include:

  • Provide System Architecture services to the CSIRO Digital Support for Labs program by conducting system design activities and reviews of detailed component designs and provide advice on solution design best practice.
  • Understand key technologies and their licencing models related to lab type environments.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders (including internal staff, partners, and vendors) on service/product/platform blueprints, designs and roadmaps that are customer aligned.
  • Deliver system designs including ‘as built’ and target states.
  • Work with capability and technology leads to develop sub-system level designs and to develop technology plans.
  • Lead a number of business as well as technical working groups.

    Salary : AU$121k – AU$142k plus up to 15.4% superannuation

  • The ability to blend and translate business needs and outcomes to align to system elements thus assuring the people, organisations, information, cyber and application needs are accommodated and directly related to business needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and to provide leadership across the following considerations:
  • Alignment of business outcomes to operations, information and technology designs.
  • Development of information and technology designs that are viable, feasible, and aligned to organisations enterprise architecture.
  • A good understanding of key technologies and their licencing models related to lab type environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in development of System and Solution Design documentation.
  • Experience producing simple diagrams to convey complex technical problems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and commitment to principles of Workplace Diversity; Equal Employment Opportunity; Occupational Health, Safety and Environment; and Employee Participation.
  • Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience or the ability to demonstrate a commitment to delivering outcomes in eResearch, scientific computing or other innovation centric environments is highly desirable.
