The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is seeking customer focused, passionate and hardworking event coordinator within APH Catering and Events.
The APH Catering and Events team delivers an in-house food and beverage operation across Parliament House. The team prides itself on providing premium catering and event services to building occupants ranging from small private dining rooms to large spaces such as the Great Hall. There are also several cafes and restaurants, including a public café, staff dining room, private dining areas, coffee venues, in-room dining and corporate catering.
The APH Catering and Events team is growing, and we are looking for upcoming and experienced banquet supervisors to join our mission. Our work is important and ensures those who work in Australian Parliament House have convenient access to exceptional food, coffee and event services.

Job Specific Requirements :
The successful applicant will be required to:
• obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (Protected/Restricted) security clearance
• hold A current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate. If not currently held, this certificate must be obtained and maintained
• be able to work according to a roster and overtime if required. Penalty and overtime rates apply
• be able to always wear a uniform and present in a professional manner when on duty.
Proven event coordination experience and certifications or training in hospitality is highly desirable.

Under limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the PSL4 classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Identify clients’ requirements and expectations for each event.
2. Ensure all sales enquiries and bookings are managed in a professional, polite, timely, accurate and efficient manner.
3. Maintain records of all enquiries and bookings in the event booking system and ensure all aspects of bookings including financial management are approved in accordance with standard operating procedures.
4. Coordinate event logistics with clients, vendors & internal stakeholders from enquiry through to delivery and feedback of assigned events.
5. Develop banquet event orders, contribute to resource requirements and consult with stakeholders to ensure the delivery of effective events that meet budget, timeframe and other objectives.
6. Maintain high quality service standards and standard operating procedures focused on service delivery, effective marketing, high customer satisfaction levels, and compliance with DPS policies and procedures.
7. Work collaboratively with other stakeholders to provide products, services, and information. Key stakeholders include parliamentarians, catering team, departmental colleagues, suppliers, and customers.
8. Assist in other areas of the Catering and Events section and other duties as required.

Salary
The current salary range is $74,730 to $81,202 per annum plus 15.4% superannuation.
Conditions of Employment
Employment opportunities at Department of Parliamentary Services are subject to a range of conditions prescribed in the Parliamentary Service Act 1999 which include:
• Australian citizenship – to be eligible for employment with DPS, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
• Security clearance and character clearance – the preferred applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the level specified, as well as complete and be deemed suitable through a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
• Health assessment – a pre-employment health assessment will be required where there are physical or medical requirements for the role.
