CLINICAL ASSISTANT/PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKER
(CROSS-SITE TEMPORARY FULL TIME & CROSS-SITE TEMPORARY PART TIME)
As a cross-site temporary full time and cross-site temporary part time Clinical Assistant/Personal Support Worker, you will be an integral part of a collaborative and inter-disciplinary team focused on delivering exemplary care to our patients.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Clinical Assistant/Personal Support Worker assists with patient care by:
Having a strong focus on client safety and ethical standards, Developing respectful working relationships with patients and families to meet their care needs, Being respectful of the dignity and the individuality of each patient, Providing personal care that meets the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs of each patient – including, but not limited to, preventative skin care, hygiene, grooming and dressing, nutrition, use and care of adaptive aids/prosthesis; elimination and toileting, Observing, assessing, and reporting changes in patients’ behaviors and activities, Participating in multidisciplinary team environment, Assisting and attending to special needs of the patients, Escorting patients into diagnostic tests as needed, Collecting and monitoring patient information, Taking the patient’s height and weight and documenting the care given accordingly, Assisting with appropriate levels of supervision of patients, Maintaining the safety and comfort of patients by ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors and adhering to hospital infection control measures. QUALIFICATIONS:
Successful completion of an approved Health Care Aide program (HCA) or Personal Support Worker (PSW) Diploma/Certification from a recognized program CPR certificate at the Heart Saver Level and Standard First Aid Previous experience in assisting patients with basic personal care needed Minimum of one to two years of related experience in a health care setting preferred Responsible, energetic individual with above average ability to prioritize and organize in a busy environment Knowledgeable regarding the scope of practice for various job categories Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team, patients, families, and general public Basic computer skills Demonstrated ability to follow through with requests Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team environment Capable of working independently and able to take direction Knowledge of principles of medical asepsis and universal precautions Demonstrated positive relationships with other health care professionals and able to contribute to the development of an environment conducive to excellent patient care Willing to work flexible hours ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Satisfactory performance and attendance required Satisfactory Reference Checks required prior to start date Must provide a Police Vulnerable Sector Check Must complete a Pre-Employment Health Assessment including providing proof of full COVID Vaccination prior to being hired HOURS OF WORK:
12-hour shifts; day, evening, night and weekend shifts as per department schedule. SALARY:
Minimum $23.00/hour.
