About the Role

 

We have an exciting traineeship opportunity for a Graduate Information Technologist to join the UniSA Information Strategy and Technology Services team. The successful candidate will be able to build on their knowledge and further develop skills and experience in IT development practices.

Information Strategy and Technology Services (ISTS), which has the primary strategic and operational responsibility for the provision of the UniSA’s considerable IT infrastructure and services has approximately 150 staff in 9 key areas. 

Information Strategy and Technology Services has a commitment to staff development and provides a professional environment in which to work. Skills development is encouraged and while this position is within a specific area, opportunities will arise to work in other areas of information technology. 

The University’s systems infrastructure environment provides the underlying resources for access and identity, shared file systems, corporate systems, data management and disaster recovery. In addition the Systems Infrastructure team are responsible for the administration and support of core infrastructure applications. Systems Infrastructure staff are responsible for ensuring that the IT infrastructure supporting the University’s business critical systems functions correctly and provides adequate performance to maintain productivity for end-users. 

Core Responsibilities 

Under supervision of a senior team member, you will be required to: 

  • Assist in the development and support designated information technologies, services or applications
  • Document designated technologies, services or applications 
  • Liaise with other team members, users and IT support staff in the technical aspects of software development 
  • Research, analyse, develop, implement, evaluate, interpret, report and provide timely advice or recommendations on issues, policies and projects 
  • Draft reports, newsletters, submissions, letters, memos or other correspondence in accordance with university standards
  • Essential Skills and Experience 

  • Completed UniSA tertiary qualification or with expected completion by end of 2023 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of coding languages 
  • Working knowledge of software development and life cycle 
  • Demonstrated understanding of relational databases 
  • Demonstrated written, verbal and interpersonal skills to enable effective communication and interaction with other people at appropriate levels of an organisation
