Job Description
The Science Development branch provides strategic leadership for the Queensland Government’s investment in science research, capability and infrastructure. We develop strategic science policy, plan for future science investment, manage grants programs, and monitor and evaluate the investment in science and its impacts. We have a major role in facilitating individual and institutional research linkages (both nationally and internationally) with a focus on the application of science to contribute to a productive and diversified economy and a healthy and sustainable environment and society. We also have a role in enhancing science communication and engagement.
The Science Development team is seeking a Project Manager (AO8) to:
• Work collaboratively with senior management and stakeholders to ensure project outcomes support the strategic direction of the division.
• Plan and establish works programs, manage required procurement, team members and, as required, contractors and ensure project scope and timings are aligned to broader objectives.
• Manage project budgets.
• Provide excellent communication to project sponsors and other key stakeholders, both verbally and in writing in a clear, concise and articulate manner, focussing on key points.
• Provide high level written communication including briefing notes, cabinet submissions, ministerial correspondence and complex reports.
• Ensure all projects are compliant with legislation, government approvals, and departmental policies and procedures
• Think strategically, gather and critically analyse information and alternative options, and provide direction and communicate expected outcomes to others.
• Build key internal and external networks, involve, encourage and work collaboratively with others, and guide and empower other team members.
• Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of First Nations people and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations people.
