About the Role

 

The position is responsible for providing technical support to facilitate the day-to-day operations of the UniSA Clinical and Health Sciences’ multidisciplinary undergraduate teaching and research laboratories.

Core Responsibilities 

  • Administer the ChemWatch system across the UniSA Clinical and Health Sciences Academics Unit, provide assistance to local users of the system and perform audits on chemicals stored within laboratories on an annual and ad-hoc basis
  • Administer the asset and equipment register for the Academic Unit
  • Prepare equipment, reagents and specimens as required, and participate in the delivery of practical sessions to support activities in undergraduate teaching laboratories across the Academic Unit. 
  • Assist with the development and ongoing maintenance of a variety of records such as biological, cytotoxic, chemical, radiation spill kits, equipment and plant maintenance records, etc
  • Assist with the development and ongoing maintenance of the gas cylinder register to inform condition of regulators, manifolds, gas pipes, rentals for the Academic Unit
  • Essential Skills and Experience 

  • Tertiary qualification(s) in a relevant field (Laboratory Medicine, Medical Science or similar) and/or extensive knowledge and experience in coordinating, operating and maintaining laboratory facilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders at varying professional and academic levels, from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • High level of organisational ability and initiative including experience in work planning, analytical skills and prioritising to meet deadlines, often with competing demands in a complex team environment
  • Knowledge/Experience in operating MS Office suite and maintaining quality systems, databases, etc
