In Springwood, Queensland in 1983, someone ordered a pizza and became Australia’s first Domino’s customer. Almost three decades later Domino’s Pizza Enterprises - the Australian arm of the company - has become the world’s largest Domino’s franchisee, with stores not just in Oz, but in New Zealand, Japan and much of Europe too.

What casual positions do Domino's offer?
1. Pizza Maker
As a pizza maker you’ll be in charge of creating Domino’s famous pizzas. You’ll also be responsible for tending to the oven, ensuring food safety practices are adhered to, and that the kitchen is kept clean and tidy. No experience is required, but the ability to work quickly and accurately is desired.
2. Customer Service Representative
Meeting and greeting customers as they walk in the store, answering the phone and taking orders, handling transactions; if you like dealing with people, the customer service representative (CSR) role might be for you. As the face of the store, the CSR must be warm and welcoming, giving customers the best Domino’s experience possible.
3. In-store Team Member
Combining the roles of pizza maker and customer service representative, the in-store team member is a true allrounder. This role is more common in smaller outlets with less room for specialisation.
4. Shift Runner
The next step up from in-store team member, a shift runner manages staff, running the shifts of entry-level workers. You’ll also control cash, resolve potential conflicts, and ensure safety and security during your shift. Experience is required, preferably in a Domino’s store, and a free hospitality traineeship is sometimes included!
5. Driver/ Scooter Rider/ Electric Bike Rider
Delivery drivers/riders will often be the only human contact a customer has with a store, so along with a set of (green) P plates and a sparkling driving record, you’ll need to be able to deliver outstanding customer service. Don’t have the appropriate plates yet? Don’t worry - Domino’s has rolled out a fleet of electric bikes!
How do I get a job at Domino's?
Domino's uses its own careers site, Domino's Jobs, to advertise open positions. You can search by location, role, salary and date, and you can apply instantly through the site.
The pizza business doesn’t experience much fluctuation through the year, and therefore Domino's doesn’t have any periods where they tend to hire more staff. That said, Domino’s reliance on student workers can see a few positions pop up as school recommences, or as international students leave the country at the end of the year.
What is the average pay for a Domino's casual worker?
According to PayScale, the average hourly rate of pay at Domino's is $17.60. This may seem low, but it is due to the number of entry-level roles that the chain offers, and the fact that young people generally fill them.
Domino's pays the government award rate for most positions, which changes with a worker’s age, role, experience and hours. The difference can often be stark - as of June 2020 the award rate for a part-time 15-year-old fast food worker was $8.56 per hour, while the rate for a 21-year-old casual was $26.76.
You can calculate your award rate using the Fair Work Ombudsman’s Pay Calculator.
The perks of working at Domino's

- The opportunity for certified training in certain roles
- A staff discount on food
